Texas doesn’t get a hard freeze every year, but the years it does, one 28°F night is enough to split a lateral, crack an above-ground backflow, and brick a controller board. We watch the forecast through November and December, hit the pressure at 80 psi (low enough to clear the water, high enough not to stress the fittings), and walk the yard the same visit. When spring comes back around you’re the same tech’s second stop of the season, not a stranger’s to-do list.
